My Approach to Helping
People come to therapy for a variety of reasons. You may be seeking to relieve distress, self-doubt, anxiety, or sadness, and ultimately hoping to achieve greater fulfillment and pleasure from your life. You may want to improve relationships with others along with gaining insight into yourself.
I bring warmth, compassion, and humor to my treatment as I work with adolescents, adults, and elderly patients on a wide variety of issues, including depression, anxiety, adjustment issues, life transitions, relationship conflicts, chronic illness and grief.
My approach to psychotherapy is to provide a warm, safe, and supportive environment where I listen emphatically to help you resolve issues you struggle with. I see therapy as a collaborative process in which we identify your unique concerns, goals, and develop a highly personalized treatment approach. I consider myself an eclectic therapist which means I draw from the following types of treatment depending on what I deem to most effective for your unique set of circumstances. I am skilled in a variety of techniques including Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Psychodynamic therapy. I have a particular interest in the mind-body connection and how the interplay between body and mind affect both mental and physical wellness.
