My Approach to Helping
I value creating a space where people can be human. I believe that psychological suffering is a normal part of life, and I model and encourage genuineness and vulnerability. More formally, I have extensive training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, which is an approach that is grounded in the belief that different is not a disease and that each of us is whole, complete and perfect. I will challenge my clients to develop a different relationship with painful thoughts and feelings, which we are bound to experience if we are engaged in meaningful living. I will also challenge my clients to identify and move towards that which makes their lives meaningful and gives them a sense of purpose, even when the (especially when) movement towards meaning and purpose is difficult.
