My Approach to Helping
Working as a therapist with individuals, couples, and families have brought a very strong sense of fulfillment to what I do. Each person with whom I work comes from a unique background and brings his or her own strengths. We work together as a team to help them use these strengths to make healthy and functional decisions to improve their quality of life. People need a friendly, open, honest atmosphere in which they can feel relaxed and comfortable in order to be who they really are and to open up and express themselves and be heard in a non-judgmental way. To this end, I feel that it is important to help people experience me as who I am: a warm, genuine, easy, and accepting person, combining myself as a person with understanding, concern, support, and professional experience. This helps people feel more comfortable in seeking professional knowledge, opinion, and experience to help them make the healthy changes that are important to them.
In addition to traditional talk therapies, I have had great success with biofeedback techniques. These use fun, noninvasive equipment to monitor your body processes, like emotional reactions. Clients learn to control these processes in and outside of therapy, which leads to improved ways of thinking/feeling/behaving.
Please feel free to reach out to me to help you address issues such as anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, marital issues, parenting issues, communication issues, unresolved hurts, sex addictions, substance addictions, and anger management, among other things. I have also applied biofeedback to such issues as anxiety, pain, headaches, and ADHD. Call me for a free phone consultation to see if I'm a good fit for you!
