My Approach to Helping
I believe that all individuals have the ability to effect change in their lives and that my role as a therapist is to empower my clients to lead fulfilling and happier lives. Through a collaborative relationship, I help my clients envision the lives they want to lead and reach their goals in a safe, compassionate and supportive environment. I do not believe in a "one size fits all" approach to therapy. Recognizing that each client has unique needs, strengths, and resources, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques such as play therapy, experiential therapy, solution-focused therapy, structural family therapy, and family systems therapy.
More Info About My Practice
Before obtaining a master??s degree in marriage and family therapy from Iona College, I worked as a lawyer with children, adolescents, and families who were experiencing family and relationship conflict. As a marriage and family therapist, I have worked with couples, individuals, children, and adolescents providing individual, family and group therapy. My experience includes helping my clients strengthen peer and family relationships, explore trauma and loss and navigate parenting and relationship challenges. I am also a certified divorce mediator and believe that spouses and families only benefit from resolving their issues without court intervention.
In my free time, I am an avid reader. I also love hiking and cycling and find peace in the beauty of nature. I travel whenever I can and, as an amateur photographer, my camera is always close at hand.
