My Approach to Helping

Are you at your wits end with your child or teen? Are you feeling overwhelmed, hopeless, or uncertain about life, your relationships or what to do next? You don't have to go through it alone. Every person can benefit from support and guidance throughout their lifespan, and I'd love to be the person to offer that to you. I have extensive experience working with young children, teens, families and adults. In our work together I will help you identify what it is that you desire or need, what potentially stands in the way, and ultimately to help you, or your child, identify and use effective strategies for reaching your goals.

I know it's an overwhelming task trying to find someone with the right approach, the right experience and the right connection for you. But, I think you're in the right place, and well on your way to finding the hope, peace of mind and the support you desire. Research shows that the most important element in a successful therapy experience is the relationship between you and your therapist. This is the basis of my work - not only do I bring more than a decade of experience but I will offer you active and attentive listening, empathy and understanding, guidance and support, as well as facilitate your growth and achievement of your desired goals.

I would enjoy the opportunity to assist you in determining if I might be a good fit for you and your needs.

More Info About My Practice

My current practice consists of children, teens, families, and adults.. My practice is fee-for-service, which means I am not currently contracted with any insurance companies. In most cases of a PPO insurance plan you may have out of network benefits available to you, which could result in full or partial coverage of the service fee. I'd be more than happy to talk you through this process and assist you in understanding the benefits you may have available to you.

In some cases, based on substantiated financial need, I am able to provide a sliding-scale fee. In the event that I am unable to accommodate your financial circumstances, I will likely be able to share with you appropriate referrals.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have over 18 years experience working with small children, teens and families. I am trained in family systems and dynamics, art therapy and play therapy. I am able to help parents better understand what their child's behaviors are trying to communicate, as well as assist childrenteens in using their words versus behaviors (acting out). As your child's therapist, I will work closely with you and your child to create successful strategies for managing behaviors, improving behaviors and interactions, improving communications, and increasing closeness among family members.

I have also obtained more than 250 hours of clinical training on the treatment of trauma. Trauma does not have to be something horrible, catasrophic or large scale event (i.e., war, combat, assault). In fact, trauma can be anything, large or small, that overrides our ability to cope, understand or manage. For example, it could be changing schools mid-year for a small child, separationdivorce, death of a loved one or family pet, transitioning to college, a car accident, observing someone being injured or dying, health scare or diagnosis, etc.

My clients are often relieved when they understand and recognize that what they have experienced and the symptoms that have resulted (i.e., mood instability andor changes, sleep disturbances, appetite changes, being easily startled, difficulty concentrating, etc) are a normal response to something traumatic. I'd like you to know there is hope and healing possibl

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

As I mentioned earlier, the most important factor in your successful therapy experience is finding the right person for you! In order to have a positive experience and reach your goals you must find someone whom you feel comfortable with and whom you trust. I am someone who listens attentively to you, understands you and what you're experiencing, provides you with empathy and guidance. I look forward to showing you that I am compassionate, trustworthy, competent, knowledgeable and have your best interests in mind.

I encourage you to call or email me. I would enjoy the opportunity to assist you in determining if I might be a good fit for you and your needs.
