My Approach to Helping
Welcome to therapy, a journey towards your best self. I am primarily a person-centered therapist whose main focus is helping you acknowledge your potential and growth towards an ideal-self. I practice nonjudgmental observation, supportive reflection, and insight building skills to help your recognize the best choices, the healthiest decisions, and the strongest answers you have in front of you. Most importantly, I strive to work with my clients in accepting all parts of themselves (both strengths and flaws), so that they can build meaningful purpose in their lives and direct their life journey appropriately.
There are also a number of practical skills that I share with my clients, including ways to challenge irrational or intrusive thoughts with CBT (cognitive-behavioral therapy), or build acceptance and peace towards difficult emotions with mindfulness based practices. I sometimes use a combination of art and music therapy to facilitate the building of emotional expression and assertiveness. I specialize in working with my clients through a variety of difficult life issues including anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, trauma, and life transitions. I hope I can assist you in the ways that you specifically need as well.
