Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I specialize in helping couples in crisis to step back from the brink of divorce or break-up and find ways to re-connect, heal old wounds and rebuild a deep and trusting bond - often stronger and more reliable than ever before.

Theoretical Influences that Guide My Work

I believe that humans were build to be in relationships. Science now shows clearly that with the foundation of a strong and resilient relationship we are healthier and we live longer and better. Conversely, a weak, mistrusting, disconnected or absent relationship undermines every other aspect of our lives. As a beloved mentor said many years ago: "It is all about the relationships."

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

I most often find this unfortunate assumption with the many men that I work with. The mistaken notion that seeking help is a sign of weakness is, I believe, the "cancer that eats men." This concept of having to be strong and not show any signs of struggle is a recent modern corruption of the ideal of individualism. In contrast, ancient traditional attitudes held that none of us were ever meant to face the problems and challenges of life alone. In fact, to seek counsel and support was a sign of wisdom and the strength of internal courage to reach out for assistance and mentoring.
