My Approach to Helping
I feel strongly that regardless of the obstacles thrown our way or the circumstances we find ourselves in, there is always a way to improve our well being and make progress towards our goals. It's not a matter of if, it's a matter of how. It's not only a matter of our external stressors or triggers, but the little choices we make, our habits and the routines we follow, not to mention our voice in our head and the way we treat ourselves from day to day - all play a large part in how we feel, whether we realize it in the moment or not. The more aware we can be, the more empowered we are to take control and make the changes that are needed to move us in the direction we want to be going.
My therapy style is eclectic: strengths-based, solution-focused, and person-centered, borrowing from models such as Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Therapy is not a one size fits all, and what works for one person will not always work for someone else, but through a strong therapeutic relationship we can explore how you would like your world to look different, and what we can do to get you there.
