My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who received my Master's degree in Clinical Psychology in 2002. My training allows me to work in settings such as prisons, sexual assault crisis centers, and domestic violence shelters, and I have spent my post graduate career working in community mental health and private practice. In 2012, I completed training to become an Illinois and Missouri State Supreme Court Certified Divorce Mediator.
I utilize a wide range of therapeutic approaches because I believe that therapy is most effective when it matches the unique set of needs and dynamics each client brings to the session; however, I frequently use CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectal Behavioral Therapy). I happily work with all age groups and treat most problem areas, but have found a passion in working with veterans, couples and families, individuals on the Autism Spectrum, individuals with personality disorders and other serious and persistent mental illnesses, as well as individuals with PTSD, depression, andor anxiety.
