My Approach to Helping
* I currently offer video sessions for those concerned about coming into the office due to COVID-19 *
I believe that you are the best person to determine the direction of your therapy, whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self esteem, or just feeling stuck. My practice provides the ability for us to work together until you find your way to the person you want to be.
More Info About My Practice
I work with with children ages 3 to 10 and 14 and up, as well as adults of all ages. I utilize play therapy techniques and skills training for children age 4 to 10 and age appropriate traditional talk therapy, Adlerian, and cognitive behavioral techniques for teens and adults. Couples may benefit from Gottman therapy techniques and communications training.
The most important technique I have found is the one that works for you.
I am currently accepting new clients and have evening and weekend hours to make therapy more accessible.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
You are the person you are not just because of your genetics, but because of your experiences. Your relationship with family members, coaches, teachers, and friends helped shape the person that you are today. You experience your feelings and behaviors as a way to interact safely within the environment you live in. If those feelings and behaviors have made relating to family members and coworkers impossible, or have created pain and unhappiness in your life, psychotherapy can help you find a way out.
My Role as a Therapist
My place as your therapist is an empathetic ear, a guide to tools and resources, and a person to walk with you on your therapy journey. I do this by working with you without judgment to explore your past and present and help you find the direction you need to go. It is possible to find joy and contentment in your life again.
