My Approach to Helping
Looking for a therapist may seem overwhelming and difficult when all you want is relief. A relief from either the emotional or physical pain, or both. Physical and emotional pain may stem from the same issue and result in a inability to cope. With help you can learn how to better cope, clear some of the past patterns of behavior that interfere with life and develop the first step in finding relief from pain. I am able to help you learn and focus on resolution of past issues, cope with present problems and be able to avoid future struggles.
Change is not easy, but we all have the capacity to change and better our lives. I look at the whole person, getting to know what 'makes you.' Together we discover your strengths, build and reinforce them to use now and in the future.
More Info About My Practice
I have been practicing for more than 20 years with clients who have both medical and emotional issues. Every person has their own way of resolving problems. When you are unable to go further, I am available to help with a combination of modalities that may lessen the burden. Each client brings a different issue to therapy. Together we find a way that focuses on you needs.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I have experience helping individuals who are coping with the physical and emotional issues that may be present with acute and chronic illness. I am aware of the grief and loss illness may bring and its effect on the family/couple relationships.
What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process
This is not a lifetime connection. Working together we may find ways for you to resolve issues to a level where you feel you can cope. You may learn techniques to calm yourself. You may learn how to communicate more effectively. Or you find you need someone outside of your family who you can vent to. Whatever the reason, many of us need a non-biased listener, someone who is able to focus us and help us really see ourselves in our world.
