My Approach to Helping
As a licensed counselor, I aim to help those who seek out my services live a better and more rewarding life. Counseling provides a safe and comfortable space where the client and counselor can work together to achieve the emotional and psychological goals set for treatment. This can be a journey for both of us, as we strive to grow and overcome the obstacles that may have steered you toward counseling initially. This process helps us discover new things about yourself, your emotions and your thought process, and when your treatment goals are reached, the end results of our teamwork are very rewarding.
Experiencing low self-esteem, stress and mood swings happen to many people, but the difference between you and someone else is what YOU will do to change things. My work emphasizes using the strengths and resources of each person to restore balance and peace in their lives. I believe that counseling services can provide a better feeling of self-worth and a positive mindset, and help place you on the path to a better future.
More Info About My Practice
I have maintained a private counseling practice since 1996, but I have been self-employed in many different areas of mental, emotional and physical healing for over 25 years. I encourage you to give counseling a try if you feel that other methods of coping have not helped thus far. I strongly believe that healing begins when individuals or couples are able to recognize and understand how past occurrences have shaped and molded their lives, thoughts and actions.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
A number of issues that my work focuses on are self-confidence, emotional trauma, conflict resolution between family members or relationship partners, and financial stress, among other issues that we all experience throughout our lives. I also work with individuals and couples facing emotional roadblocks due to depression, feelings or disdain or shame that stem from corrupt or inappropriate actions, and even frustrations revolving around parenting. By working as a team throughout the counseling process, we can identify these barriers that hinder your growth, and work to move past them together.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
Counseling can be anxiety provoking to most people who have never tried it and this is a normal response. However, if your life circumstances are causing you to feel stressed out, disappointed, sad, overwhelmed and unhappy most days this is when counseling may be helpful. At the beginning of your counseling journey it may appear that things are not changing and you really do not feel much better but it is important to remember that these issues did not happen overnight and that it will take time to see and notice progress. Often times after each session I will assign homework because most of the change process will happen in between sessions when you are practicing to become ore healthier individually, as a couple andor as a family. If you invest a little time into improving your situation you will develop healthy habits and become a happier person.
