My Approach to Helping
I began my career hoping to work exclusively with children. My mother is an educator, and I loved hearing stories about the kids at work. In my three years of work with children as a respite counselor, I realized that much of what children experience begins in the home environment. That inspired my interest in helping all ages.
In therapy and training, I offer a nonjudgmental and empathetic environment that supports clients to achieve their goals. I am passionately committed to building safety for all clients, through being genuine, trustworthy, encouraging, and most importantly, building a strong rapport. I have extensively worked with individuals dealing with relationship, behavior, and emotional, problems for the first time. I also help young adults with anxiety, bipolar, and depression.
I have worked in various settings, including outpatient care, managed care, homes, and the hospital.
More Info About My Practice
My job is to guide, support, empower, and educate my clients. I believe that each client is on a different path, so I use an eclectic approach that includes solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral (CBT), client-centered, and family systems therapy. I also encourage my clients to discover which approach works best for their needs.
As a therapist, I believe counseling can improve anyone’s life. I want to help you feel good about sharing your story. Sometimes the topics we discuss may feel uncomfortable, but therapy is collaborative, and should be enjoyable.
I graduated from Hofstra University with a master’s degree in mental health counseling, and from SUNY College of Old Westbury with a bachelor of arts. I obtained a licensed professional counselor license when I moved to Texas. I’m also a National Certified Counselor. I have clinical experience working with people with intellectual disabilities, those experiencing a first episode of psychosis, elders, and children.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my puppy and my husband. I like working out. I was born and raised in Brooklyn, and we moved two years ago to Dallas. So we like to check out new things on the weekend. I’m also obsessed with Beyonce.
