My Approach to Helping
I meet my clients where they are at - taking into consideration their unique history and circumstances. I have a special interest in women's issues, supporting LGBTQ individuals and couples. I am progressive and here to offer a safe space of support. I offer a variety of therapeutic modalities (EMDR, ACT, CBT, DBT) and have an eclectic approach.
I believe that the therapeutic relationship is foundational to positive outcomes and my wish is for my clients to feel safe, valued, and to be open to having a good laugh in session from time to time. I see you as a whole person, with a rich history that has provided you with unique gifts. You will learn that you can be ok, even when you think you're not. Contact me today for a free consultation!
My Role as a Therapist
Our sessions will focus on what you identify as needing the most attention and how we can effectively lessen symptoms of distress. In some sessions, it may be that you need to vent and have space held for you as we process together; other times you may need more direction and guidance to figure out why you are struggling and how to feel better. I am here to meet you where you are at. I am very gentle and direct. I will never push you past your comfort zone without your permission. My goal is to illuminate areas for growth and provide skills, compassion, and psychoeducation so that you can do the healing. I have a variety of tools to draw from such as mindfulness skills, cognitive restructuring, grounding exercises, attachment work, and trauma reprocessing. If you would like activities to work through between sessions, I've got those! If you prefer to focus your treatment on our scheduled session time, that can work too - it all depends on your unique situation.
