More Info About My Practice
I have a Master's degree in Professional Counseling and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and I have worked in the mental health field for over 15 years. I am currently licensed by the state of Georgia as a Licensed Professional Counselor.
After earning my graduate degree in 2006, I worked for the Department of Family and Children Services as a Family Preservation Case Manager for three and a half years. As a Case Manager, I was able to help numerous families to maximize their potential and improve the quality of their lives.
Since that time, I have been in a private practice environment, where I have worked with clients of various backgrounds, who were dealing with a variety of issues. I have assessed and treated clients with substance abuse, dual diagnosis, depression, anxiety, marital, physical, verbal, and sexual abuse issues to name a few.
How Psychotherapy Can Help
In life, we can experience many life-altering events that are too much for us to emotionally handle at the time, and so we tend to shove those emotions in the "closet" to deal with later. Just as if we were to attempt to shove a room full of furniture into a coat closet, we are simply not made to hold in all of those big emotions and thus, they will spill out in many ways such as anxiety, depression, anger, and even addiction. We need to process those emotions in a safe environment, with a professional who can give you the tools to handle them and prevent them from continuing to negatively effect your life. A therapist can help walk you through that journey.
