My Approach to Helping
Daunting as it is, deciding to come to therapy is a step toward growth - courageous and hopeful. When we feel felt in therapy, when we are accepted just as we are, this is when we begin to change. I understand this on a professional level, and also from my own years of personal therapy experience. I go into any session open and curious, with an intention to support you however you many need it each day. I bring my clinical mind, but work from the heart - actively, relationally and with a sense of humor. I trust that the issues bringing you into therapy are signposts on your path to healing and it's my job to help you find your way.
People who come to see me tend to be professionals struggling in their relationships - with partners, kids or at the workplace. Issues we focus on are usually anxiety, anger, depression and stress.
I am most influenced by psychodynamics, attachment theory, somatics and Self Psychology. I aim to listen for what is said, and for what you communicate without words. If you are motivated to do this challenging work, we will sort through what is keeping you stuck together. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but I am here to use my clinical skills to help you find avenues to greater vitality and new possibilities.
