Are you struggling to even get out of bed in the morning? Has anxiety seemingly overtaken you, leaving you feeling exhausted from the burden of trying to merely cope with daily life? Have you experienced trauma, and you're now having difficulty coping with everyday life? Relationships seem to never quite progress into the closeness you crave? My goal is to help you find joy, however lost you may feel. I have a special passion for working with teens and adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, relationship problems or those who have survived a trauma. I consider these specialty areas. I also welcome diversity and particularly enjoy working with clients in the LGBTQ community. My approach to therapy is eclectic, meaning that I draw from a variety of models. One size does not fit all when it comes to therapy.

More Info About My Practice

If you desire to use your insurance benefits to assist in therapy, please contact me to determine whether I am in network with your insurance provider. If you wish to pay out of pocket for your sessions, my fee is $110 per session for 45-50 minute weekly sessions, $130 for 60 minute sessions and $130 for first time intake and diagnostic sessions. Under certain circumstances, I also offer 90 minute sessions. A typical therapy session in my office generally runs between 45-50 minutes, although this may vary based upon the type of therapy used and your needs. Therapy may be more affordable by using your HSA or filing out of network benefits.

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

I have extensive experience in helping adolescents and adults who have experienced physical abuse, sexual abuse, or who have witnessed domestic violence or other traumatic events. I also have a great deal of experience in helping people take control of and manage anxiety and gain insight into unhealthy and dysfunctional relationship patterns. I am a seasoned EMDR practitioner and have advanced training in Attachment Focused EMDR.

My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy

My office is not a place where you will come for advice. You know your life better than I do, and you know better than I do the intricacies of the problems that bring you to therapy. My role as a therapist is to help you find clarity, and to assist you in finding your own answers.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

The idea that therapy is only for the weak and the flawed seems to be a pretty common reason that people hesitate to begin therapy. The belief is common, and understandable if you consider the various mixed messages society sends us about going to counseling. But if you really consider it, therapy is ultimately about change. And change, even positive change, can be scary for most of us, right? I know it can be for me! So how do we arrive at the conclusion that making a commitment to begin the process of change is something that makes one weak? Do the weak face painful traumas and long held fears? Do the weak share their insecurities and their anxieties? Do the weak seek to change thoughts and behaviors that, while dysfunctional, may be as clung to and as comfortable as an old pair of Levi's? No. That's what the strong do. That's what those who choose to attend therapy do. The people I have worked with in therapy are some of the strongest and most courageous people I have ever met, and they have my utmost respect.
