My Approach to Helping
Finding someone you can trust with your needs, your vulnerable spots, and your hopes can be hard. Here are some things to know about me to help you make that decision. I like working with people and I operate under some basic assumptions:
1. We are all doing the best we can with what we've got
2. When we know better, we can do better
3. The most important things in life are about connection
4. Our strengths matter more than our weaknesses
I love using evidence-based approaches to therapy and assessment. I tend to utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) most often. I also love dogs, Mexico, sleeping, and singing loudly in my car.
I've worked in a lot of different settings and have experience in many areas (college students, eating disorders, military families, health psychology, etc). I've discovered my true passions in life have to do with learning disorders and advocating for kids who have them, behavioral sleep medicine, and helping people to navigate parenting life and all the feelings that come with it.
