Billing and Insurance

I am an in-network provider for:

  • Medicaid
  • Medicare
  • Tricare

Fees: At Responsive Mental Health Services LLC our standard rate for a 45 minute session is $100. We accept Missouri Medicaid and Medicare, Tricare, and other insurances which we are constantly expanding. If we are out of network with your insurance we can provide a "superbill" for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement. We have a sliding scale that includes a student rate and rates based on household income and size. Call for details.

I call what I do "responsive mental health therapy" because I respond to your specific needs in a way that works with your situation. I am versed in a number of psychotherapies, which I use as a tool box to help you meet the goals that are important to you. I am not fond of the idea of setting limits on dreams, and will encourage you to explore yours and help you build your own toolbox in order to reach them and surpass them.

More Info About My Practice

I got my start as a case manager and worked for years with people with developmental disabilities to help them live as independently as possible, and then with homeless people to help them resolve the complex situations that led to losing housing. I specialize in complex situations with people who have struggled to find someone willing to work with them. The dog in the picture is Lady Day, and she is in training to be a therapy dog. She works with me on Saturdays only at this time, and she is both loving and enthusiastic (a bit *too* enthusiastic at times)

Had a Negative Therapy Experience?

I work a lot with people who have struggled to find a therapist they can work with. Pay attention to your gut. If you like your therapist and feel they trust and respect you, you will be more likely to be successful in therapy. Therapy has natural ups and downs, just like life, but the right therapist will help you through those and continue to guide you as you reach your first dream and then another.

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

Ugh. I hate the word "disorders." You are a unique individual, and no matter how many diagnoses you have, none of them gets to the heart of who *you* are. We will work on defining both your strengths and the areas where you need to improve your skills. In a very real way, you are the athlete of your life and I am the coach, and part of that is learning to strengthen your existing strengths and work around your limitations.
