My Approach to Helping

I feel strongly about helping people with anxiety, chronic or invisible illness, intimacy issues, hypersexuality, excessive porn use, and sex addiction in men and women, as well as partners of people who have struggled sexually. Interpersonal relationships can be severely impacted when a person is suffering with anxiety or any other mental health challenge. I help people find healthy ways to cope with their problems and also strengthen and improve communication skills in their interpersonal relationships.

I can help you create a more fulfilling life by helping you explore how and when the challenges started. Coping skills will be explored. I will teach you how to identify and change self-defeating and negative thoughts. You may be surprised at how different your life will be afterward. Being in nature can be very helpful for some people so I offer Walk and Talk sessions in scenic places.

I try very hard to see problems from my client's point of view. I ask questions to gain a deeper understanding of what they are going through. I firmly believe that the client is the expert on their own lives and feelings. I am grateful to be able to help my clients move forward to a better way of living.

Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed

We are not born with healthy coping skills. These are things that are learned, or not, as we age. Some people go through life and rarely have anything happen that exceeds the limits of their coping skills. Other people go through challenges that they are not prepared for. Sometimes, things happen in our lives that are not our fault and we don't know how to deal with them. Learning about our strengths and weaknesses is important because we can lean on our strengths and learn to improve our weaknesses. In this way, we will be better prepared for the unexpected.

Groups I Work With

    I work with adults that struggle with sexual intimacy, sex addiciton, and compulsive sexual behaviors that cause feelings of shame and guilt along with other negative feelings. Anxiety is a huge problem in our society and I help people learn to manage their anxiety. I also work with people that have had partners that struggle with sexual behaviors because partners can experience Post traumatic stress as a result. I also work with people with chronic illness and invisible illness. There are a lot of specific issues a person with a chronic illness faces every day.
