My Approach to Helping
You come to a therapist to make changes in your life. When you've made the decision to do so, you want to feel comfortable to discuss your feelings, reveal your pain, and unload the conflicts that have paralyzed you into inaction.
My approach is to examine the road blocks, while helping to explore the inner strengths that you have to address and conquer whatever has stalled your progress. I want to help you regain the strength and focus that will not only help you to feel better about yourself as well as your ability to handle other conflicts.
More Info About My Practice
I use a socio-cultural cognitive behavioral approach. That includes the individual focus on the family and cultural influences that have helped to shape who you are, and perhaps have a part in the conflicts that are now making it difficult to move on to the next stage in your life.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
Perhaps the most important factor in choosing a therapist is the comfort level you need when revealing some of the most intimate details of your life that have caused you pain, conflict, or disturbance.
The client-therapist alliance defines that comfort level. I want to help you see your own strengths by helping you feel more empowered. This occurs within the alliance. While you gain the confidence you need, I'm there to help you keep the focus. While you overcome your times of indecision, I'm available to clarify. YOU are the focus of my attention. That focus underscores my style of therapy.
