My Approach to Helping
Hello! I have always loved to help and work with people, which is why I graduated on May 19th, 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in social work and a minor in psychology at Salisbury University. I also completed my Masters in Social Work program at Salisbury University on May 24th, 2017.
I have been providing counseling services since 2016 and have worked with children, adolescents, and adults in individual, family, and group settings. In 2017 I worked in an inpatient substance abuse detox rehabilitation facility, where I provided therapy to individuals working to overcome their substance abuse addiction. During this time I provided group and individual therapy, as well as assisted with obtaining the resources necessary for individuals to transition back into their lives once discharged. In addition to substance abuse addictions, I have experience working with individuals who are diagnosed with posttraumatic stress (PTSD), attention-deficit hyperactivity (ADHD), anxiety, and depression. I have worked as a therapist in the school system with children and adolescents, which also involved family therapy with the children's parents. I have experience with assisting with not only the issues occurring at an individual level but at the familial level as well. I have also worked in private practice with adults undergoing weight loss surgery. My work involved completing mental health status evaluations as well as individual therapy. I am also very familiar with and have worked with individuals who struggle with self-harm and suicidal ideation.
During our time together, we will work towards change and accomplishing your goals for yourself. I would describe my therapeutic style as warm and empathetic, but ready to help you to overcome the obstacles that are standing in your way. We will work together to create goals as well as steps for you to achieve these goals. Although the process is not always easy, it is worth it.
I look forward to meeting and working with you!
