My Approach to Helping
I have ten years of clinical experience working with individuals, couples, and families, and I teach in accredited master's and doctoral marriage and family therapy programs as a core faculty member. I firmly believe that clients are doing the best they know how, and I have never met a truly "broken" person incapable of making any positive changes.
Instead of relying on diagnoses to describe clients, I prefer to focus on their stories, strengths, and resources. As such, I work collaboratively with clients to understand and appreciate their unique struggles and discover specific strategies to address them. Additionally, when working with couples and families, I strive to provide a neutral, professional opinion and consult with each person involved to resolve their issues as efficiently as possible.
More Info About My Practice
I intentionally keep a small practice to provide dedicated and individualized attention to my clients. I offer a free 15-minutes phone consultation to explore my fit with you. To accommodate clients' schedules and needs, I offer weekend and evening sessions and return phone calls within 24 hours.
My service is available by appointment only, and I do not accommodate walk-ins. I don't accept insurance.
Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With
I specialize in relationship issues, communication issues, parenting issues, anxiety, depression, as well as adolescent behavioral issues. I am also an EMDR trained therapist for working with trauma of all types. If I am unable to help my clients, I would be happy to provide referrals to other professionals in the area.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Seeking therapy does not mean you are crazy or you have failed. In fact, I believe it is quite courageous and wise to recognize that you may need some help in dealing with certain issues. Through therapy, you may gain a better understanding of the issues affecting you, and discover specific skills and strategies to reduce the negative impact of those issues.
