Therapy creates a relationship in which the therapist helps mobilize client resources, cares for the client, and listens without judgment. Gestalt therapy enables clients to achieve wholeness by unifying the parts of themselves.
When people consider therapy, it's because their old, familiar habits and patterns aren't working the way they used to. In therapy we honor these survival mechanisms as the useful tools they once were, while working toward more effective coping mechanisms for the present moment. Gestalt therapy emphasizes the primacy of relationships and encourages you to explore the parts of yourselves you are using, as well as those parts you are neglecting. We build upon strengths instead of labeling and stigmatizing. Through therapy you can achieve closure with the past while working toward a happier present and future.
