My Approach to Helping
Veni, vidi, vici…you came, you saw, you conquered. Hard work and stamina have always been your greatest strength. You’ve been confident in your achievements. Winning was what you did daily.
Now it feels more like failed, flattened and finished. Unless something changes fast. You can’t relax, but you’re tired all the time. It seems your greatest strength has turned into your greatest weakness. There is a point of diminishing returns from hard work, and you’ve reached it!
And your work stress is contagious. Everyone at home has the symptoms. More angry snapping, stress and sadness. You can’t think clearly, fight fair or figure this out. No one is at peace and sleep is a problem for everyone. But you don’t have a choice: Giving up is not an option. You have to keep going and persevere. You need to do your job well without letting it ruin your life.
Your new undertaking is taking over you. And you don’t know how to stop the train and get off. Is the light at the end of the tunnel an oncoming train? How can you make it out of the tunnel before the train runs you over?
Go back to where you started. When you had some happiness! When you felt that sense of ‘What I do matters, and I’m not just busy with other people’s chores.’ Learn to manage your ‘hard worker’ strength. So it doesn’t become a weakness that rules your life.
Break up with exhaustion, over-work and doing others’ work. Think clearly again and focus on top priorities. Deal differently with critical co-workers and stop carrying their stress home.
I am ready to help you find your way back. I’m Janna Donovan. A therapist with an MBA. I’ve managed teams, saved jobs and changed cultures.
After 20 years of Fortune 500 companies, startups, overseas assignments and my share of wins and losses, I decided to figure some things out. So, I studied Psychology, got another Master’s and became a counselor.
Talk about your job in a private, business-savvy environment. Enjoy the support of someone who understands the world of work and gives you time to think. I’m ready to help you decide what to say ‘yes’ to. And how to take the risk of saying ‘no.’ I’m ready to help you get these back:
• Clear thinking
• Acceptance of others
• Healthy eating and exercise
• Excitement about your talent , your calling
• Love and connection at home
Get out of the tunnel and you’ll see change. You know in your heart that there will always be more work to do. Clear your head so you can work smarter, not harder.
