My Approach to Helping
I have over thirty years experience in helping people who are depressed, lonely, and anxious. I provide individual, couples, and group therapy to adults. I've been told that I'm very easy to talk with. In addition, I bring warmth, caring, and creativity to our sessions to help you identify what you want your life to be and to remove barriers to that life. It's possible to find richness and meaning in life even if it doesn't seem so now.
More Info About My Practice
I work with a sliding scale and can be affordable if you want to change. Insurance companies track your diagnosis, are charging ever higher copays, and dictate to the therapist when and for how long they can see you. I choose to work without insurance to protect your privacy.
My office is easily found at the intersection of Edgewood and N. Augusta. It is a warm, comfortable building that compliments my style.
Importance of the Client-Therapist Alliance
i believe that the relationship between client and therapist is the single most important tool the two of them have to help the client develop the life they want. In the beginning of therapy I talk with the client about what's troubling him or her, but in addition, I am getting to know them and letting them get to know me. That alliance that develops is far stronger than either alone. It takes both of us working together to help the client achieve not only relief from symptoms but a new life that suits them better than their "old" life.
