My Approach to Helping
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, registered Art therapist and Certified Clinical Supervisor. I work with teens, adults, couples. I am dedicated to assisting individuals reach their true potential and finding meaning in their life by using a supportive, empathetic, collaborative and solution driven format. I also believe that circumstances that seem hopeless and unfair can be approached and processed in a functional way that works for each individual- especially if there is a willingness. Special interests include anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, depression, habits/addictions, eating disorders, grief, divorce, coparenting and relationships.
More Info About My Practice
I use a variety of approaches depending on the focus of therapy. In some cases a cognitive behavioral approach might be appropriate, but in other cases a supportive and solution driven approach might be best suited. In the case of Grief and Loss, support and processing is typically more appropriate. The treatments are tailored to each individuals needs and the clients agenda in the meetings will be the top priority. I also employ expressive art therapy and play therapy.
Why Going to Therapy Does Not Mean You are Weak or Flawed
Going to a therapist doesn't mean you are broken or flawed in some way. It is a supportive method of finding ways to cope with the difficulty of life. It provides a function to help live a full and meaningful life that you can feel good about. We are all faced with challenges and some feel that their situation is hopeless. Finding a perspective and knowing you have the power to find meaning in your situations helps us modify thoughts and actions that are not working anymore.
