My Approach to Helping
I am a Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Art therapist and Certified Clinical Supervisor of interns in training. I have special training and credentials in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy using the TEAM approach, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I have expertise in ages 17 and older including individuals and couples who struggle with issues such as Trauma, depression, obsessive compulsions, anxiety and panic disorder, phobias, peri-menopausal and menopausal depression and life changes, grief, and difficulty with relationships. I am dedicated to assisting individuals reach their desired goals and find meaning in their life by using a supportive, empathetic, collaborative and solution driven format and can cater the approach based on individual needs. I also believe that circumstances that seem hopeless and unfair can be approached and processed in a functional way that works for each individual- especially if there is a willingness. I am currently providing Telehealth services, and some in person on a very limited basis. I do not take any insurance, but can provide a Superbill for all services.
More Info About My Practice
I use a variety of approaches depending on the focus of therapy. In some cases a cognitive behavioral approach might be appropriate, but in other cases a supportive and solution driven approach might be best suited.
In the case of Grief and Loss wether it is from the loss of a loved one, the death of a pet, or the loss of a relationship, typically the best approach is establishing a supportive, safe environment to process the loss of a life you used to know. The treatments are tailored to each individual's needs and finding what kind of support works best for you. I also employ expressive art therapy as requested.
My Therapy Focus
The focus is you. Your goals, your agenda and I'm just here to help get you to where you'd like to be. How will you know when you feel better?
Going to a therapist doesn't mean you are broken or flawed in some way. It is a supportive method of finding ways to cope with the natural difficulty of life. It provides a function to help live a full and meaningful life that you can feel good about when you wake up in the morning. We are all faced with challenges and some feel that their situation is hopeless. Finding a perspective and knowing you have the power to find meaning in your situations helps us process and sometimes modify thoughts and actions that are not working anymore.
