My Approach to Helping
My approach to therapy includes Cognitive Behavioral. Rational Emotive Behavioral Theory, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I believe in the premise that a clients progress is directly related to the therapeutic alliance developed between a clients and the professional, so I works diligently at developing a strong relationship with all clients.
I specialize in working with adults who may be struggling with substance use, anxiety, depression andor those involved with the court systems.
More Info About My Practice
I have over 20 years of experience in the behavioral health field starting as a caseworker in a correctional youth facility. Since then he has gained experience in adolescent groups homes, long term residential treatment facility, alternative education settings, and partial day programs. James' experience with adults includes inpatient, partial day and outpatient psychiatric settings, outpatient chemical dependency programs. James has extensive experience working with and within the Criminal Justice system conducting substance abuse and co-occurring evaluations, domestic violence assessments, pre-sentence investigations and recommendations for treatment. He has taught college level courses for other professionals seeking to obtain their LADC, and operated his own private practice and consultation agency. James is experienced in working with adults struggling with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) and is Board of Mental Health trained in the State of Nebraska. In addition, he is a certified facilitator for Real Colors and is trained in the ASICASI assessments for the criminal justice system of Nebraska.
