My Approach to Helping
If you are struggling right now, working together with a trained, caring, objective person can be very helpful. You may not be sure how to choose a therapist you can work with to begin the process of feeling better. That makes sense because it is difficult to open up to a stranger about the challenges in life. You may have tried therapy before, and it did not help, or you did not "click" with the therapist you had chosen. If this sounds familiar to you, you are not alone. I believe that choosing the right therapist who can help you is critical for your long-term improvement and feeling better. I hope to be able to meet your needs and understand your challenges and provide the support you need.
It takes courage to share and unless you feel comfortable and safe, it is hard for anyone to open up. I have worked with many different people and cultures and I have an understanding and insight into a variety of challenges. I know it is very hard to open up, and I will help you along when it is difficult. I use evidenced based skills in my practice and will help you explore past and current reasons why you are struggling now.
Together, we will increase your awareness of how your emotions may be getting the better of you, and work on improving your ability to be in control of them. I look forward to working with you and finding ways for you to make lasting changes to help you live the life that you want.
