My Approach to Helping
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Texas and a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Illinois. I have nine years of experience working in the mental health field. Throughout my experience, I have worked in residential settings, inpatient hospitalization, outpatient programs, and individual practice. Through a collaborative approach, I am committed to helping you improve your current mood and behaviors by helping you evaluate past life experiences while attuning to present distressing emotions, negative thoughts, and feelings of discomfort. I foster a safe and affirming environment and will provide you with support, genuineness, and acceptance while we work towards providing relief from unwanted symptoms. Through my experience, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of behaviors and diagnoses. I feel comfortable providing a safe and stable environment during times of high stress, discomfort, and crisis. I believe in the importance of focusing on the past, present, and future to help you gain self-awareness and empowerment in your current life. I value the ability to tailor treatment to the unique needs of my client and I utilize techniques such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). I have experience working with diverse populations in terms of socio-economic status, gender identity, sexual orientation, race/ethnicity, gender, and age.
