My Approach to Helping
I believe that we are the experts of our own lives. It is my passion to work collaboratively with people to uncover, discover and discard those pains that has kept them feeling stuck in their life. I feel as though it is my purpose to help guide people back to themselves, and to go within. This is where all our answers come from. As I continue to do my own work in therapy I am reminded of the meaning it has for me. Having and holding a sacred space where freedom of expression is allowed and encouraged is one of the most valuable parts of the healing process.
More Info About My Practice
I am Jackie Caputo, and I have a Marriage and Family Therapy practice in Woodland Hills, CA. I find so much joy in helping those who are looking for extra support navigating challenging transitions in life, as this can cause even the most functional of us to feel a sense of stuck-ness in some areas of their our lives.
Much of my experience has been working with adolescents and families, both in a residential treatment center, as well as on an outpatient basis. I have also worked as a school counselor where I saw a diverse group of children, adolescents, and parents.
I provide individual therapy, as well as pre-marital and marital therapy for a variety of issues ranging from adjustment disorder, communication issues, depression, ADHD, anxiety, grief, addictions, eating disorders, failure to launch, and various relationship issues. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is one that needs safety and trust in order for the client to work through their concerns in a caring and compassionate environment.
I am eclectic in my approach to healing, and I use a variety of therapeutic methods, including cognitive behavioral therapy, which is solution focused. I will tailor your treatment plan based on your personality and needs.
I see clients during the week and am also available in the evenings to accommodate those who prefer evening appointments.
Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist
Choosing the right therapist to meet your needs is such an important step in the process toward improved health and wellness. It is important to find someone who you feel comfortable with as well as, someone who has expertise in your particular mental health concern. Lastly, someone with whom you make a good connection. It can be helpful to have a brief phone consultation to make sure that you feel that the individual you have chosen will be a good fit.
I believe that a quick 15 minute phone consultation prior to the first therapy session would provide ample time to discuss presenting problems, find out how much the fee is, and see if the therapist is skilled in what you are needing support in. That way you are able to find out if it is a good fit prior to the first appointment.
