My Approach to Helping
My style as a therapist is warm, nurturing, nonjudgmental, and empathic. I aim to create a safe, cozy, and creative space in which my clients and I can engage in deep exploration and experiment with gentle change. My role as a therapist is to meet you wherever you are in your process and offer perspective, care, witnessing, and understanding. You set the pace and the areas of focus and together we work to increase insight on both the patterns you want to change and the strengths you’d like to build on.
My approach to this work is tailored to each client, but I primarily work from a psychodynamic foundation, meaning that I see value in exploring my clients’ early relationships and experiences. As a depth-oriented therapist, I am particularly interested in bringing to light unconscious material. I work from a trauma-informed lens, meaning that I believe most of us have experienced trauma in our lives and that therapy can help us to safely reprocess those experiences in a way that reduces their effect. I approach therapy from a feminist framework, focusing awareness on the stressors that female-identifying andor marginalized people often experience and how those can affect mental health. I particularly enjoy working with creative people and those curious about the fundamental nature of existence.
