My Approach to Helping
Irina Abinya is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. She graduated from Teachers College, Columbia University, with Master of Arts and Master of Education degrees in Psychological Counseling. Irina is also a Diplomate in Logotherapy through The Viktor Frankl Institute of Logotherapy (USA) and is an accredited member of the International Association of Logotherapy and Existential Analysis at the Viktor Frankl Institute Vienna in Vienna, Austria.
Irina has extensive clinical experience providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of diagnoses, including PTSD and trauma-related disorders, affective disorders, personality disorders, and addiction. She utilizes trauma-focused, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic-existential, and meaning-centered approaches in her clinical practice.
Irina believes that a warm, genuine, and collaborative therapeutic relationship facilitates psychological healing, growth, and well-being. She creates a safe and supportive environment for her clients and equips them with valuable psychoeducation, insight, as well as effective coping and self-care skills.
Irina derives inspiration from travel, nature, culture, photography, and a continuous search for meaning.
