I am human - above all else - just like you. I am experienced, dedicated, and understanding. I have a unique blend of training in both clinical mental health and Applied Sport and Performance Psychology, which means I am uniquely equipped to work with individuals across a range of age groups and issues. I am passionate about service, equal rights, the value of education, and sport. And I am here for you.

I combine years of experience as a competitive athlete and coach with my unique training in clinical and applied sport psychology to inform my empowerment-based approach to therapy. I practice from and Integrative perspective shaped by the biological-psychological-and sociocultural model and basic mindfulness practices. I believe that healing begins when we stop resisting the struggle inside and learn to embrace it with compassion. Only then can we be fully present and available to the world around us.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Health Coach through the National Academy of Sports Medicine. I have over a decade of experience in the healthcare industry, and a lifetime of experience as a competitive athlete and coach. I earned my M.A. in Applied Sport and Performance Psychology from the Graduate School of Professional Psychology at the University of Denver, and my B.S. in Organizational Behavior and Leadership from the University of Rhode Island. I have held numerous other certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

More Info About My Practice

I started my practice with the mission of becoming Denver's most innovative and accessible mental health services provider. Every service I offer is based on one simple belief: Mental health is physical health, and access to health care is a basic human right.

I believe that our differences make us stronger. My office comfortable, discretely located, and wheelchair accessible. I chose a building full of businesses that promote equality among all genders and sexual orientations. In an effort to make my services accessible to as many individuals as possible, I offer the following:
- Same Day Promise: New clients can expect to hear back from me within a few hours.
- Free Phone Consultations
- Online Scheduling, secure messaging, and auto-pay via my online client portal.
- I accept insurance (yes, Medicaid too)
- Discounts for students, low-income families, DU alumni & Therapists
- Accepting of all genders and sexual orientations

Specific Issue(s) I'm Skilled at Helping With

Prior to founding Mind Body Sport, I spent five years at an eating disorder treatment center in Denver, where I filled many roles, including: Program Coordinator, Primary Therapist, & Athletic Clinician. I have served as a Sport and Performance Psychology Consultant, a Strength & Conditioning Coach, a Personal Trainer, Corporate Wellness Consultant, and - perhaps most surprising - Senior Accountant for a midsize healthcare company.

My unique blend of education, training, and experience has afforded a diverse skillset. Unlike many therapists, I do not work with clients and issues that I have not successfully worked with in the past.

I specialize in the following areas:
- Eating disorders - including males and competitive athletes - specifically, Anorexia Nervosa,
Bulimia Nervosa, Binge-Eating Disorder, Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder.
- Food, body, and exercise concerns; including exercise addiction/dependance, body image, exercise re-integration, healthy living.
- Performance Enhancement for Athletes, Performers, High-Risk & High-Stress Professionals
- Therapy for Therapists
- Healthy weight loss
- Anxiety & Depression
- Personality disorders
- Men's Issues
- Relationship issues (individual)
- Injury Rehabilitation

My View on the Nature of 'Disorders'

One of the most common afflictions of our modern society is looking for happiness outside of ourselves. "Disorders" or "pathology" are a product of attempting to avoid - or numb - the universal struggling within all humans. Regardless of its origin, learning to embrace our struggling heals the body and mind. Only then can we be fully present and available to those around us.

The best way to take care of the future is to take care of the present moment. Right now is the only time you ever have in which to live. It's the only chance you get to do anything - to learn, grow, heal, experience, love, communicate. Why spend it dwelling on the past or planning for a future that hasn't happened yet?
