My Approach to Helping
My goal in therapy is to empower clients in session to make sense of personal circumstances and experiences. Through greater exploration and self-understanding, clients can strengthen their sense of self and break down barriers. I use a client-centered and strengths-based integrative approach to improve self-esteem and autonomy. With a holistic, multicultural lens I work to help clients grow and seek clarity as they work through times of stress, anxiety, change, or stagnation. I believe self-compassion is one of the most important tenets of growth, and one of the most compassionate things one can do is seek and accept support.
Life is full of changes, and adjusting to them is often a task easier said than done. I have experience supporting adolescents, adults, and couples as they process difficult feelings, relationships, and life transitions. Each transition may feel like a new challenge, however, we can often look to our past experience to guide us through.
It's important my clients view therapy as a safe space where they can be their authentic selves and share openly. Additionally, as a Media Arts major, I see value in connecting work done in session to film, TV, music, and other media as seeing, hearing, and reading about major themes of existence can foster greater understanding and a sense of belonging.
