My Approach to Helping

I am passionate about working with women at all stages of life to help them feel fully embodied and empowered. In the midst of my first career as an English professor at an all-women's college, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that changed my life. I found myself called to help women in a different way-- not only intellectually but emotionally and spiritually. I started my practice, New Moon Counseling, to provide a safe space for individuals to get to know their true selves. Some of my areas of expertise are: chronic pain and illness, body image, motherhood, career and family issues, relationship problems, and childhood trauma.

My approach is informed by more than a decade of study in Jungian depth psychology, as well as training in a variety of somatic-oriented therapies. As a poet and performer, I believe in the power of creativity. In addition to talk therapy, I can guide you in self-discovery through creative writing, art-making, movement, or dream-work if you feel so called.

Though I specialize in women's issues, I welcome individuals of all genders, races, sexual orientations, and belief systems. Curiosity, imagination, and humor are the hallmarks of my style. I strive to be authentic and present in every session. If I sound like a good fit for you, or if you simply want to learn more about my practice, I invite you to chat with me during a free phone consultation.

"When I dare to be powerful, to use my strength in the service of my vision, then it becomes less and less important whether I am afraid." -- Audre Lorde
