My Approach to Helping
"Transformation doesn't ask that you stop being you. It demands that you find a way back to the authenticity and strength that's already inside of you." -Cheryl Strayed
I believe that everyone has the power within to heal themselves. As a therapist, there is nothing more sacred than being involved in someone's story and being able to help them find light in a world that can at times seem rather dim. My objective is to walk gently and compassionately with my clients on their paths toward creating a life full of meaning and growth.
More Info About My Practice
I have experience working with both adults and adolescents who face anxiety, depression, relationship issues, trauma, and substance dependence, etc. I integrate both evidence-based and experiential modalities in order to fit various needs. As a former high school teacher, I specialize in helping teens work through the confusing space between childhood and adulthood.
My View on the Purpose of Psychotherapy
Sometimes in life we find ourselves in a dark place. A place that may seem hopeless and lacking of possibilities. As a therapist, my job is to help clients find their way through the dark and assist them in finding their own inner light. Sometimes it just takes some extra support to be able to take the steps needed to make changes in one's life in order to find happiness and for growth and transformation to occur. The only way out of pain and darkness is through it.
I individualize my treatment approach based on my client's needs. I use solution focused strategies for barriers that need immediate attention and utilize more long-term modalities for issues that are more difficult to work through.
