My Approach to Helping
Whether you are suffering from a lifelong diagnosis or just need to talk to someone in the short term to help you through a rough patch, everyone needs help at one time or another and I applaud you for taking the first step toward better mental health in 2019! If you decide to work with me, you will benefit from over 15 years' worth of experience working with people diagnosed with mental health disorders and individuals who are dually diagnosed (both cognitive and emotional issues). I have been providing individual and group sessions in outpatient clinics since 2012 and have provided in-home consultation for families since 2014.
I take a humanistic and person-centered approach with all my clients but work primarily in the therapeutic framework of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). I have extensive experience working with people experiencing transition in their lives, struggling with relationships, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, bi-polar disorder, and dual diagnosed populations. I have advanced training in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), brief and solution focused therapy, risk assessment for forensic populations, and working with people who have experienced trauma as a result of sexual abuse andor domestic violence. Sessions are held in a private office in the beautiful mountain setting of Rosendale & Tillson, NY area (wheelchair accessible).
