My Approach to Helping
I work with a diverse clientele and issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, loss & grief, as well as trauma. Each individual is unique and has a unique story to tell. It is my honor to listen to your story and walk alongside with you as you embark on a journey of self-discovery and inner peace.
My work is strength-based and I focus on what is rather than what is not. We all experience stress which comes in many forms and while stress and external events are unavoidable and out of our control, we are in control of how we react. Stress causes physical, mental & emotional symptoms and we adapt patterns that, after a while may not work anymore. In our session, we seek to resolve these non-functioning patterns.
My approach is non-judgmental, gentle, empowering, inspiring, interactive, and collaborative.
More Info About My Practice
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, certified in Hypnotherapy, Psycho-Kinesiology & EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique aka Tapping). I am currently studying towards Certification in EMDR (I have completed Parts I & II), Aromatherapy, and CBT for Insomnia.
My Therapy Focus
When experiencing stress, our body & mind is often reacting with a "fightflightfreeze" response. If we do not release this maladaptive response (which, by the way, was at one point useful and possibly life-saving) our body & mind re-experience this learned reaction and is repeating the same pattern.
In our work together, we focus on these maladaptive pattern(s). Through the use of various modalities & techniques, you are able to release the pent-up stress and emotions to foster a balanced state of body & mind.
And with this in mind, I work on the premise that there is an emotional connection to any dis-ease, discomfort, to trauma, to feeling stuck, procrastinating, experiencing a lack of energy, emotional eating, or feeling depressed, sad, unhappy with life etc.
Further, I believe that our body & mind has an innate ability to heal itself. Our innate healing system can restore balance. Our body is constantly thriving for homeostasis and we are essentially whole, and with that have internal wisdom, compassion, joy, and are powerful. Sometimes, however, we need some help and guidance to get back to our true nature.
Together, you and me, we find this emotional connection and work on releasing it for your being to feel whole and return to a state of wellness. Through gaining new awareness, you can make connections and tap into your internal resources that foster healing.
