Many of us know that life can be hard. We may find ourselves facing unexpected events such as divorce, illness, loss, or difficult life transitions; struggling with on-going problems in relationships; feeling stuck in self-defeating behaviors, or involved in complicated situations that have no simple or immediate solution. In other instances, early childhood circumstances seem to get in the way of our ability to succeed or do as well in life as we would like.

Whether I am working with people who are struggling to overcome traumatic life events, want to maximize their potential or alleviate emotional suffering, I use a direct, interactive approach to connect and engage with my clients. In general, sessions include both practical approaches to problems as well as an exploration of more deeply embedded issues when this is relevant. In situations of crisis, I focus on building coping reserves so that clients can feel more equipped to handle specific challenges or navigate what can be an overwhelming or painful time. As we work to increase insight and strengthen the capacity to master difficult situations, we often move between past and present in order to see how early experiences may be surfacing through anxiety, depression, anger, compulsive behaviors, or problems with intimacy. Getting to the root of problems in this way can help make them less likely to simply recur.

Therapy can boost motivation and help you change, allowing you greater freedom and more control over your life. Most importantly, therapy can help you feel less alone as you work towards these goals.

More Info About My Practice

I am an out-of-network provider, but many insurance companies will reimburse some portion of the fee for psychotherapy sessions after a deductible has been met (the amount of the deductible and percentage of reimbursement vary from plan to plan). I am always happy to provide assistance and discuss this further in person if need be.
