Life can be difficult to navigate. Finding the time and space for reflection on your own needs in this constantly-moving world is a challenge. Therapy is a time set aside to reflect on your own needs and values, a space where you can learn about yourself in a safe environment. Time that is focused only on you and your unique needs.

Whatever brings you to therapy, whether it is a life transition (such as marriage, career change, or starting school), helping you cope with the emotions that arise from stressful life situations, or clarifying values and goals therapy provides a supportive atmosphere for exploration.

I encourage you to take the first step in acknowledging that your emotional needs matter. Seeking help takes an enormous amount of vulnerability and courage. Together we will work toward greater awareness of your needs and values and identify changes you can make to positively impact your life.

More Info About My Practice

I am currently accepting new clients for afternoon and evening appointments at my office in East Lansing.

I offer free 15 minute consultations over the phone. This allows you to hear my voice and help you to get a sense of my personality, as well as offering you the opportunity to ask me questions. I can also discuss insurance and payment options during this time. I work on a sliding scale for hourly rates in the event I am not participating with your insurance provider.

What I Say to People Concerned about the Therapy Process

I have experienced firsthand how transformative therapy can be. I know how difficult it can be to pick up the phone and call someone you don't know to help you with things you may not have shared with any other person in the world.

It is my firm belief that everyone can benefit from therapy. The experience of having a kind and objective person to listen to your fears and challenges, a person who provides the space for you to be yourself, is powerful and healing. I am a kind and curious listener, and I would be honored to support you as we learn about your unique needs and forge your path to a more meaningful and balanced life.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

The frequency of therapy is different for each individual and the challenges that they are experiencing. Every person moves at their own pace. Some clients appreciate weekly appointments, while others prefer every other week or monthly appointments.

I often recommend weekly appointments for the first three sessions, as these initial sessions allow us to explore your needs and preferences, as well as allowing you to become more comfortable with me. After those sessions, most clients have a good sense of whether weekly appointments are beneficial to them, or whether they prefer more space between sessions.

Duration of therapy is also on an individual basis. For some, once the primary challenge has been addressed and they feel better about that situation, they decide to stop therapy. Other people find that having a therapist to speak to about their life is beneficial to them on a long term basis, and stay with therapy for years. I believe it is important to know that even if you stop therapy, you can always return.
