My Approach to Helping
Therapy is not about changing who you are, it is about working on how you are - in relationships, at work, with your family, and with yourself. Reduce anxiety, feel less depressed, become better able to deal with overwhelming emotions. Find contentment. This is my wish for your therapeutic experience.
Using an eclectic approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, we can work together to learn and implement skills to stop the unhealthy patterns in our relationships, our negative thought processes, the harmful ways that we try to persist during times of distress. We can learn useful coping techniques to decrease our anxiety responses to stimuli.
I want you to feel heard and comfortable, not judged. But I am also here to challenge you at times. It is my intent to explore the noble intentions behind the how and why of actions and learn a better, more balanced way to deal with life's challenges. I meet you where you are emotionally, listening to where you want to be and working collaboratively with you to get there.
