My Approach to Helping

*COVID-19: In an effort to protect my community and the community at large, I'm currently seeing folks online, via telehealth, only.

I believe that it is possible, through our individual and collective healing, to change the world. In my practice I focus on supporting children, the grownups who love them, and women of all ages with concerns related to changes in the family, developmental disorders, fostering and adopting, behavior problems, life transitions, anxiety, and trauma. I often say that my focus is actually the relationship, the relationship: between a child and themselves, between a child and their grownup(s), between a woman and her history, and between each of us and the future.

I envision a world where all children have healthy, supportive relationships with their parents, where adults have healed wounds from their childhood, and where we are living intentionally and authentically, changing inter-generational patterns that no longer serve us, and unhooking from systems that stifle us. While my practice is informed by a decade of experience working with a diverse group of children and families as well as training in science-backed methods and practices, in our work together I strive to provide a balance of concrete tools to provide relief and to empower you while holding non-judgemental space where all your thoughts and feelings are welcome and witnessed.

I believe that it truly takes a village to raise a child, to love a family, and to hold each individual. From my place as a helper in the collective village, I feel truly honored to be a part of the lives and journeys of everyone I hold space for. I look forward to working with you toward the healing and harmony that you envision.

We’re in this together!

My Role as a Therapist

When working with children, I often see myself as a translator between children and their caregivers. I speak the language of the young child and can help parents understand the "why" behind their tantrums, their anxieties, their developmental delays, etc. I've seen this translation lead to greater understanding and empathy between caregivers and their children and feel very grateful to build relationships with both parts of the parent-child dyad.

How My Own Struggles Made Me a Better Therapist

In my experience, most therapists come to this work honestly. By that I mean that most of us, myself included, experienced some hardship in our past that has made us even more empathetic when others struggle. My own therapy was instrumental in my healing and I hope to pay that forward!
