My Approach to Helping
All of us have the ability to change and each individual holds the solutions to improve motivation, adjust thinking patterns and correct detrimental behaviors.
I am doing what I am most passionate about and that is to really help people having issues with their mental health or achieving a balanced state of mind. This passion is driven by the rewarding experience of being a part of someone's recovery or change. Furthermore, this assistance not only impacts that person but also everyone connected to the person, be it their family, employer, friends etc. A positive change has a "ripple" effect that can continue for generations to come.
My style is collaborative, supportive and straightforward during sessions. I believe that challenging negative thoughts and encouraging insights will allow for increased commitment to change, leading to self-improvement and successful therapy.
Had a Negative Therapy Experience?
There are many people who have had the courage to reach out to a counselor and walked away feeling disappointment.
Simplistically: My goal is try to understand the client; their concerns/issues and the emotional/mental impact experienced.
However, I must realize that each individual's experience is unique and therefore I can never completely understand.
This can be frustrating for some counselors and sometimes they begin to stop trying to understand, with assumptions and lack of effort.
The trick is to never stop trying to understand.
This perseverance and passion is evident in my approach to therapy.
