My Approach to Helping
Griselda Garcilazo, MS PPS LPCC, earned a BA from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and an MS in Counseling with a dual specialization in Clinical Counseling and School Counseling from Loma Linda University.
Griselda has worked with complex care patients including ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis), Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson’s, Headache, and Bariatric surgery patients. Griselda specializes in end-of-life, terminal, and progressive diagnoses, chronic health conditions, grief, PTSD, trauma, anxiety and mood disorders, crisis intervention, veteran, school counseling, and life transitions for individuals, couples, and families.
Griselda worked at the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, where she developed and implemented culturally focused mental health programs and events to provide support and mental health services. She developed, coordinated, and implemented virtual social-emotional learning programs and parenting and baby bonding programs. Previously, she worked at Loma Linda University Medical Center where she established, developed, and implemented a comprehensive mental health counseling program within a specialty multidisciplinary team as the Clinical Therapist for the Loma Linda University Medical Center – Center for Restorative Neurology.
Griselda’s therapeutic approach is based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, Emotion-Focused Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy. Griselda fosters a collaborative approach to assist individuals in reaching their treatment goals to enable clients to live their best life and improve their overall well-being.
