My Approach to Helping
Whether this is your first time looking for a therapist, or you're returning to therapy after some time away, more than likely the process of finding the right fit is in itself an anxiety-producing process. You're probably wondering: 'How will I find the right therapist for me? Will they understand me? Will I be comfortable opening up to them? What will this be like?'
These questions are so important - finding someone you feel comfortable with is one of the most important parts of the healing process. When we find that right fit, we are able to explore our thoughts and feelings freely, leading us to a new understanding of what needs to change and how we can go about taking the steps toward feeling better. I feel honored to share this experience with the people I help. I work hard to help my clients feel heard, understood, respected, valued and supported - because it is from this foundation of support and nurturing that we are able to take the sometimes scary step of making changes to feel better about our lives and relationships.
I use a variety of therapeutic approaches, focusing both on what's happening today as well as how our past experiences and relationships continue to affect us in the present moment. I don't push my clients, but rather gently encourage them to explore new ways of looking at their lives and relationships. It is important to me to hear you out and help you guide your own treatment. Therapy can be a life-changing experience, it is my honor and privilege to be a part of this process with you. If you have more questions, and I'm sure you do, please don't hesitate to contact me - I am here to help you.
