My Approach to Helping

I blend my extensive training in evidence-based therapies with a personal style that is warm, compassionate and often humorous. My therapeutic approach is grounded in mindfulness - a psychological technique that has prolific evidence for its positive impact on mental and physical health as well as overall quality of life. I also bring a holistic, acceptance-based understanding of both human struggle and resilience. My hope is to work with you to find strength and meaning as we navigate challenges, and that you'll leave feeling well-equipped to manage whatever curveballs life throws your way.

More Info About My Practice

I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, an evidence-based therapeutic technique that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies, together with commitment and behavior change strategies, to increase your openness and resilience in the face of the curveballs that life will throw our way. The focus is not necessarily on how to make one's life 'better', but rather how to transform your life into something of your own making that is rich, meaningful, and based on your distinctive values.

Important Factors for Choosing a Therapist

Therapy is a challenging and rewarding journey. I respect that therapy is a meaningful or even scary, and when you feel ready to embark on a path of self-exploration or change, there is nothing more important than finding a therapist who meets you where you are and makes you feel understood and accepted. Beyond all of the skills and specialties listed on a therapist's profile, look for someone who makes you feel open to sharing and being vulnerable. As therapy is an investment of time and resources, it is important to make the most of every session by digging into the core issues. This is difficult enough without feeling judged or misunderstood. Find someone who creates a space of safety that allows you to share yourself in the most honest and authentic way.
