My Approach to Helping
Welcome, and I am so glad you are reaching out! Often, we feel we are surviving rather than thriving. And perhaps you are worried about the way you feel- powerless, lonely, sad, or overwhelmed. Life can be hard. I can help.
Maybe you are a new parent and it isn't what you expected, or even hoped for. Nobody tells you about the postpartum experience. The internal voice in your head that is constantly critiquing the new role of motherhood you're taking on, mourning the version of yourself you once were. Not to mention the pain that comes with a birth plan gone wrong. Perhaps you lost someone, or your relationship ended, and you feel stuck within the grief and loss.
Therapy gives you the pen to write your own story. I can help you illuminate your power in a world that may tell you that you are powerless. I can help you see what already lies within you. I am an AMFT and APCC, with training in Maternal Mental Health. I can provide knowledgeable support during one's fertility journey, and am passionate about supporting mothers, specifically mothers navigating the health care system. I offer NICU Parent support groups as well, through the non-profit Mighty Little Giants.
I believe in the intersection of psychotherapy and social change, and see the impact of intergenerational trauma, especially on BIPOC psyches and bodies. I also spent many years working professionally in the entertainment industry, so I have an insider's understanding of the challenges of that profession.
My approach toward therapy is relational and integrated -inspired by Psychodynamic, IFS, CBT, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, Humanistic, and Attachment Perspectives. I work with individuals (adults and adolescents), couples and families. I am LGBTQIA affirmative. I believe we all need support, and I will be a part of your team.
