My Approach to Helping

My name is Dr. Gift McDougal, and I am a licensed clinical psychologist and the owner of Gift of Therapy, LLC. I have always had a passion for working with children of all ages. I view the child as part of a system (family, school, community) and when we address the system as a whole then greater healing and change can happen. Providing a child and adolescent a safe space to explore their issues is very important to me.

Therapy is a unique and incredibly powerful gift that when used can change children and adolescents in a way that brings them more joy, self-acceptance, hope, and peace within themselves and within their family and peer relationships. I am committed to helping your child and family transform your lives.

More Info About My Practice

My practice specializes in therapy services for children and adolescents ages 5 through 18 and their families. Specifically, I offer individual child and adolescent therapy, family therapy, and group therapy.

*I also offer hypnotherapy. I am a National Board Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

The Duration and Frequency of Therapy

Because everyones circumstances are unique, the frequency and length of therapy varies. Some of the factors that play a role in the length of therapy include the individuals needs or treatment goal(s) and the severity of the problem(s). Having support outside of therapy and staying committed to personal growth and healing will be instrumental in having successful outcomes. Sessions are typically weekly or every other week. Individual sessions typically last for 50 minutes while family therapy and group therapy sessions last a little longer.
